* pass The Rockcliffe Retirement Home (on your right).

Directions from the Vanier Parkway:

Thanks to Alto Cindy Cyr for arranging this. She writes,

I met with the activities director last week (very sweet lady ... Debbie).
She showed me where we’d be performing, where we could prepare, parking, etc.
There’s ample room for a 50-60 member choir.

I guess the only thing choir members may need to be aware of is that the patients
at this facility have 24 hr. nursing care. They are not living independently.
So some are in wheelchairs, some have beginnings of dementia, etc.
Debbie said there would be care-givers on duty during the performance,
so we were not to worry about patients wandering or behavioural issues, etc.
Debbie will be present as well.

We are asked to perform from 7pm-8pm;
not longer than this, as the patients get too tired.

We will be served juice and cookies afterward
(in our “coat/boot room”) ... as a “thank you”.

Here are the particulars:
The Garry Armstrong Long Term Care Facility
200 Island Lodge Road, Ottawa.

Wednesday, February 1st, 7pm-8pm.

Gig at New Edinburgh Square
Monday May 1st

We have a gig at New Edinburgh Square on Monday evening, May 1st at 7:00 p.m.
The address is 420 Mackay Street.

They want us to start singing at 7:00 p.m., so we need to be there by 6:30 p.m. at the latest.
We’ll sing for 45 minutes, then probably find a pub.

Lee would like us to meet at the church by 6:15 and carpool, or make your own way;
parking details as yet unknown, but street parking is available close by.

Here is a link to a Mapquest map for the New Edinburgh Square retirement community.

Here is the set list for the gig:
All my Loving
Hallelujah
Donde Estas Yolanda
Close Your Eyes
I Think I Love You
How Will I Know
With A Little Help
Take Me to Church
Calling All Angels
Please have your music ready; we arrive at 6:30 on Monday.

You can wear jeans, but make the top a bright solid colour. Lots of bling!.

Gig organizer Lynnie says, “I just got this information
from the Activities Director at the New Edinburgh Square:”

You are welcome to use the Chapel for warm up and for a place to leave your coats.
It is located right beside our Second Floor Lounge (to the left).
I will make sure the Second Floor Lounge is set up for you before I leave.
You are all welcome to use our underground parking.
Please just let everyone know that they will have to drive around the back of our building,
park temporarily and grab a fob key from reception in order to enter.
Thank you very much for volunteering to entertain of residents for the evening!

Sunday May 28th Annual Concert

The concert will be at 7.pm. at the Sunnyside Wesleyan church.
Please be advised, attendance during this month is very important.
Tickets are now available from Lee, and there is a concert poster.

Please arrive at 6 p.m. to warm up and prepare.
Bring ticket money (cash only) and hand it over to Ruth,
Bruce's wife, who is going to be handling the door.

NO SCENTED PRODUCTS. This means hand cream, hair spray, etc. This is crucial.
Your scented product will affect the ability of many, myself included.
Please respect this; it’s easy to think, oh, just a little bit won’t hurt,
but it does. There are many unscented products available as alternatives.

Concert dress is bright solid-coloured tops and dark bottoms;
wear comfortable shoes and as much bling as you like.
Note: there will be no room on stage for anything but water bottles.

Don Westwood has offered to host the post-concert potluck party.
The address is 66 Hopewell, just down the street. Yay Don and Anneli!

Wednesday November 22nd Gig

I’m pleased to confirm we have an opportunity
to sing for a welcoming retirement community.

When: Wednesday, November 22nd, 2017.
Arrive by 7 p.m., perform at 7:15 p.m. for about 30-35 minutes.

Where: Embassy West Senior Living 1400 Carling Avenue, Ottawa.
We shall meet downstairs in the Theatre Room, where we’ll leave our coats
and any wet footwear. There are washrooms on that level. Please use the stairs,
if possible, to ensure the elevator remains available for residents.
The Theatre Room will not be locked because employees use it to access the Staff Room.
We shall perform in the adjacent Activity Room.

Directions: Embassy West Senior Living is situated
on the south side of Carling just east of Kirkwood.
It is served by OC Transpo routes 81, 85, and 101.
If you are taking the 417, use the Carling Avenue exit.

Note for choir members exiting the westbound 417:
Instead of turning left from Carling to Kirkwood, which would involve traversing
multiple lanes abruptly, you can simply turn right onto Kirkwood, loop through
Hampton Park Plaza, and turn from the plaza onto southbound Kirkwood.

After the gig: To return to the 417, go east on Carling
and turn around in Westgate Shopping Centre. From there, if you head west on
Carling, you will find a ramp to the eastbound 417 on your right just past a
6-storey building, and, further along, a ramp to the westbound 417 on your left
just past a Fire Station.

Parking: There is a large parking lot in front of the retirement
residence. If necessary, you can park on Meath Street, which is just
east of the retirement residence, or in the parking lot behind the building,
accessible from Meath Street. If you park behind the building, please walk
around to the front entrance, as there is no back entrance for guests.

Dress: Please wear Concert Dress as described on our website,
i.e. a solid bright colour on top (no patterns, but the Lee Hayes VOX
logo would be fine), dark bottoms, dark shoes, and “lots of bling”.

Set List: Silas has produced the final set list:

  1. All my loving
  2. Papa was a rollin’ stone
  3. Calling all angels
  4. Take Me to church
  5. Donde estas
  6. Hallelujah
  7. Mercy
  8. Missing you
  9. You gotta be
  10. Close your eyes
  11. A little help from my friends
