Folka Voca Member Access Credentials

Skip the fluff and take me straight to the index of request types or the site navigation.

In order to access many of the Folka Voca choir resources you need to be registered as an active choir member. This is where you apply for your access credentials, or request changes to any of your information. Oh yes, it’s also the place you come when you’ve forgotten or otherwise mislaid your password.

A Member ID and a password are required to download some of the Folka Voca choir resources, those which are deemed to be private to the choir and not to be shared with the rest of the world. Your credentials to access the system are not meant to be shared with anyone else, so please respect our trust and don’t be careless with them.

When you make an accreditation request by filling in and submitting one of the forms on this page, your request will be processed (by a real person, not just a computer program) and an e-mail sent to you at the address you provide. Please be patient, it may take a day or two for the (all too human) administrator to get back to you.

Once issued, your Member ID is yours for life, although it will be inactivated if you leave the choir for an extended period. When you rejoin, you’ll need to request that your credentials be reinstated.

We all know that it is possible to forget passwords, and no blame is attached when this happens. We give you the choice of being reminded what your password is, or of requesting a new password. Either way, simply go to the password form on this page and make the appropriate request. Yes, the same fallible human administrator will process your request and reply via e-mail, so please be patient. Bad luck if it happens at the last minute, but that’s the way it goes sometimes. Consider this a little encouragement to think and behave carefully with respect to your choir credentials.

What You Can Request Via This Page

Although the original intent was to automate the process for obtaining web site access credentials and updating personal details, Lee prefers that for now this be done personally via e-mail.

So saying, here is what you have to do.

First, contact the Ottawa Folklore Centre and ask to sign up as a member of Folka Voca.
This will include paying dues in the form of semi-annual (six monthly) class fees.

Once you are signed up with the OFC as a current member of the choir, send an e-mail to Lee Hayes. requesting the information needed to access the protected resources on the web site.
You will need to remind Lee what section she has assigned you to. If you haven't yet had this conversation, talk to her at your first rehearsal, and then send her the e-mail.

Once Lee has replied to you with your web site credentials, download and print up the scores for the songs. To find out which ones we are currently working on, go to the Rehearsal Notes section, where you will see both the current homework list and the diary of recent rehearsals.
In the long run you will need to download most of the scores.

For many of the songs, but not all, there are MP3 files that you can play on your computer (or download onto a player or other device) to help you learn your part. There may also be links to on-line videos (usually on YouTube) of a performance of the original song, although what we sing are always Lee’s own arrangements, hence the MP3 files.
